IDEAL is a member of WWOOF Canada (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms). WWOOF is a system of help exchange and an educational way to travel and meet interesting people. In return for volunteer help, food and lodging are provided.

At the IDEAL community you will have the opportunity to share in the collective lifestyle of a group of people of all ages, where agriculture is part of a comprehensive educational model. You will discover an environment where multiple cultures and languages meet, French and English being the main spoken languages.

If you have specific goals, we would love to hear about your projects. We had the privilege of welcoming students in environmental sciences and ecosystem management, who researched the various ecosystems in this area of the East Kootenays for the work experience portion of their academic program.

As a host, we offer activities in beekeeping, orchard maintenance, gardening, berry picking, construction, care of chicken coop and dairy goats, as well as musical and wellness activities. The mountain ranges and lakes in the area offer opportunities for hiking, swimming, biking and skiing during your leisure time!

Meals are vegetarian (including eggs, dairy and fish). Accommodation is in a house with various dwellers, cabin or camping. We accept wwoofers throughout the year, although the bulk of our agricultural activities take place during the spring and summer seasons.
